Khepri, in ancient Egyptian religion, is the god of the morning sun, represented by a scarab.

How Wildbow finds the perfect references I will never know

Pretty great. One nitpick, and one lol thing. The nitpick is that Khepri should have a portal next too her to start, connecting her to doormaker and clairvoyant, before the other doors.

The lol is that anyone watching this without knowing Worm might think this is an "avengers, assemble" moment.

While I've always enjoyed the early parts of Worm more than the latter, the idea of a cinematic of Gold Morning thrills me more than any number of Marvel movies.

It's kind of like the portal scene in Avengers Endgame but way more tragic. Khepri giving up everything she had to fell a god, with only the few truly appreciating what she had accomplished in the end.

Worm needs to be fully realized, it's the best super powers story. If nothing else the ending makes it.

Chills. CHILLS. Taylor/Khepri's scream between all the sweeping portal shots was what really hit home for me. Captured the raw, human tragedy driving this epic standoff.

That pained screech Khepri makes as her mind starts melting, the endless doors that open, etc. Fantastic stuff

I know I shouldn't be surprised that the bug girl is opening portals that look like Honeycombs, since that's how they were described in the book, but I am and I love them

And she met the noble chevalier, his armor bright,
And she met the magnificent fairie queen in her court,
And she met the defiant, standing proud against opposition,
And she met the mighty dragon, it's wits sharper than it's claws,
"Sometimes the sun shines with the darkness" They said
And she became a weaver of destinies
"The few will protect the many"
Said the redeemed maiden

But the savior, the first turned upon them
Spurred on his way by the lost and the damned
By chaos and by nightfall
Much was lost, and many fell
Many tears were felled, and much pain was had
The maiden who wanted to protect cried out in
sorrow
"I have failed" Said the maiden
She once again took up ruthlessness
She cast off the expectations
And hope was cast aside for control
She met none, for there was noone to meet
She was joined by the scheming angel
Whose motives were not known to any
Not even itself.
She took up a weight
And in one bowl she laid life
In the other, she laid death
Their weight was rebirth, and her crown was the sun
"Now we will never be alone again"
Said the Queen Administrator.

We seriously need an adaptation of Worm, even if it was just the first few arcs, it would be so much better than the crap thats being released from hollywood nowadays
