FYI the pod on the underside of the nose is the Tomcat's TCS (Television Camera Set). This allowed the Tomcat crew to visually identify targets at up to 60 miles for large aircraft. It was also slaved to the radar so where one pointed the other pointed also. Late model Tomcats had both optical and infrared capability.

NE WAS USS RANGER for our deployment in VA-198 1969/70. A6A Intruders. There were two F-4 Squadrons aboard to make sure we could do our job more safely so to speak.

Famous last words... 'I'm not anticipating too many changes on the airplane'. Ha ha... little did he realise. Great mods Rich, you have an excellent problem solving mind. I have mine now, and am following many of your tips.

I would also recommend using Blue Loctite on the screws that interface with metal, like the 2 that screw into the shaft on the Taeilerons. I am surprised they didn't use turnbuckles for the swing connection on the wings, it would make adjusting them while they are installed simple. Thumbs Up for some excellent tips and work arounds

Great Video, Rich!! Did you ever get those battery trays made for purchase? I'm about to start building mine but I don't want to do the first step until I know if its possible to buy that battery tray. If not, then I'll keep building! I did order those retract braces from Raven Rock I watched in your other video.

I tried something different with the battery tray in my P51, as the battery was too large to get the straps around: Velcro.
I put velcro on the battery, and velcro on the tray. Together with the cockpit pressing on the battery, it makes it fit really nicely, had no problems in the 30 flights so far

Congratulations on the video, it is really helpful.
I still have some deep doubts.
1. My model has servo leads coming from the wings with labels saying Ailerons and Flaps. Wher must I connect them?
2. I also have servo leads coming from the from the nose gear, where must I connect it?

many thanks!!!
Carlos

33:40 Is not necessary to use lock tight to secure those screws?

My first flight on mine i used two pulse 5000's 65c rated batteries. If you use those 4000's i would put them a little further forward. Your an intelligent guy. Just to give you a heads up. I had my back battery right up against the back of the fuselage. The forward battery right smack dab in the middle of the bottom trey. I also took out the lower trey as well and laid them down parallel. Just like you are doing now. See you are a very intelligent dude. Great minds think a like. However i didnt do any carving.i just used a shorter piece of trey than you did. Put the 4000's forward. The big 5000's can go as far back as possible. No disrespect intended. You know your stuff brother. I hope im not offending you. Not my intention. You are one of my favs brother.

Hi Rich, I realy enjoyed watching this video and found it very inspirational. To such an extent I am incorporating most of your ideas into my current F14 Tomcat build. I have set up, through my transmitter the required conditions to allow tailerons when the wing is swept and ailerons when its forward. I have never before flown a model with tailerons. Can you advise me on how much movement/throw I need for the tailerons. I have checked many sources but can not find this information. Thank you in advance Andrew Dunan

I have the bundle from Motion RC with the Futaba T6K Radio. Is there anyplace that shows the receiver hookups for that receiver and the F14? It looks to me like it needs more than 8 channels, but they say it can be done with 7. Any help would be appreciated as I'm building this for someone else and the directions aren't clear.
