I spent ~2yrs (not literally, but during two years) animating the web application at my previous work as a requirement from client. The application was so good with animations. It was not too much, just enough for the feel to be good. The junior developer who replaced me had the first official task to remove all animations from the application because the client said they don't want any animations because it is affecting performance on their low end machines.
