That's a lot of pay for the dock. $999 USD. For a $450USD graphics card. Why does it feel like combining them into one unit (one PSU, one case, no weird locking system) would make more sense?

Yeah. Instead of spending $2400 on this, you could get an RTX 4070 laptop for $1000 and it would perform just as good, while being an entire package at the same time. Or you could get an RTX 4090 laptop for the same price with the top tier build quality and hardware, which would absolutely annihilate this thing. I just can't comprehend how mini PCs make any sense at all.

I want to see full modularity soon. with the mini pc portion being a laptop with tablet functionality like the gpd mini so you still have an extra (albeit small) screen to use while its docked. and separate attachable gamepads on the side for handheld stuff. This is nice since you don't have to deal with any laptop downsides like mobile chips or battery health... But is impractical for most of us, you need to be traveling to places with a readily available screen and power source, with graphics that you have to leave at home.

I've loved the concept since they first had a preview of it years ago, but the price just doesn't make sense. For what the Mind and 4060 Ti dock costs you can build a faster ITX gaming PC, then buy a mini PC AND a ROG Ally.

Man I would love more desktop GPUs to have this capability. Imagine having a full fledge 4080 for your PC, but if you can bring the GPU to another place like a friend's house and connect it to a mini pc or laptop to get desktop like performance

I admit, just the Mind 2 would make a cool portable emulation station running Batocera. If somebody had the GPU station, that would just bring the performance up even more so you could run games requiring more processing power.

I wonder if Mind Link port could be implemented into a docking station for a handheld. Imagine - a handheld with standard APU, but once you plug it into a dock, you get a powerful GPU in the mix! I know there are probably plenty of limitations, but hey! A man can dream, right? ;)

Yes, it is definitely the desktop variant. Nvidia never made a RTX 4060 Ti mobile chip. In any event, at $1K (US), they're charging a $550 (roughly) premium for a card that was already not very good value for dollar. Is that form-factor worth $550?
