I put the Innovv H5 Helmet Camera to the test to see if it is as good as a GoPro.

I have the H5 as well as the Innovv K5 (dual front and rear) mounted on my GW. I am of the belief that if I get found on the side of the road I want LEOs to have as much evidence as possible for what happened. I don’t vlog, just fun and safety.

Thanks! I have been looking at this only for accident management. I am so glad to see the external power option.

Great review, I have the Innovv K3 twin camera system fitted to my Chieftain (front/ rear), it was easy to install (about a year ago), operate with the phone app, it automatically turns on/off with the bike ignition, very impressed with it.

This seems like a great option for someone like myself who only puts videos out as a hobby. I currently have the GoPro 360 max, but want the option to do vlog type videos while riding, but I do not want a camera on the front of my helmet and I hate the side install that picks up part of the helmet in the video. This seems like it eliminates my main two issues. Thanks for sharing. Godspeed

Hello Cruiseman Great riew there
I have a K5 installed as a dash cam and have been looking at all the options for a action Cam I like the fact that the H5 runs off the battery for up to five hours as I am not to keen on being attached to the bike in any way even though I have a Can Am Spyder, I am also keen on their ThirdEye as there is blind spot on all Bikes. Stay Safe

Great video. Do you think it would be possible to mount on handle bars? Do they make different mounts?

Love the review! I do like the idea of the extended battery, especially given that I don't really care for the idea of having cords strewn all about.

Also, that Trail 70! My parents bought me a '72 Trail 70 back in the early 90s, and I rode the piss out of that thing. I've been seriously considering trying to find one to restore.

My 20, 000mAh external battery will run my GoPro non-stop for 72hrs on loop. And I use the third party IP65 cable on my GoPro, so its "splash-proof". I can get 4K60fps for 11hrs, non-stop, with external battery pack in my pocket, with a 512GB microSD. Pretty much, the H5 is a no nonsense, easy to run camera that's middle of market for the price point. That battery blocking the external mic is a noob error on the part of the H5 engineers. They could have built the battery pack to have a second end with a mic cable or a butt with nothing. As is, use the battery but use an external recording device and mic.

There is NO dash cam helmet cam with telemetry like the gopro. So how can you do video overlays?

When I saw INNOV in the description, I had to watch. I have their K3 dual channel motorcycle dash camera and previously the K2 dual channel motorcycle dash camera. Both are great products. The audio is a bit to be desired but from the sounds of things, this H5 helmet camera has better sound than the dash cameras even without the boom mic. The K3 comes with a lapel mic that can be attached to the bike, or depending on where the owner mounts the DVR, the rider might be able to wear the mic or mount it in the helmet. I have the mic attached to my right handle bar directly behind the brake fluid reservoir and between the handle bar controls and the HeliBars adjustable knuckle. It picks up the wine of the engine too much for my liking, but haven't found a better location to mount the mic on the bike. I tried it in the console cubby, and the wine of the engine is even worse.🤷‍♀

Regardless, I'll be doing some more research on this INNOVV H5 helmet cam to see if I want to try it out.

I would prefer the Sena 50C due to the communications ability, but I'm really holding out for something better that can incorporate a communications device with a camera that can be mounted to the chin bar, so that the view is a direct reflection of where the rider is looking, but something more compact than a GoPro, but just as good, with better battery life or like this camera, can be a direct powered from the bike or other external power source for indefinite recording.

I'm really curious about how large of a Micro SD card this camera will accept? On the K2 and K3, they will accept a 256Gig Micro SD card. I'm also curious about how much recording at the 4K setting will a 256Gig card will hold?

H5 longer battery life, but you cannot use external mic while using 5hr battery.
GoPro Hero 6 Black can be bought, today, for $270.
Hero6 Black 4K60fps. H5 4K30fps.
Hero6 Black, better color palette AND better stabilization.
GoPro Hero6 Black IP67 (up to 33ft). H5 is IP65 (splash proof)
I'd buy a Hero6 Black, or better, save my money and pay twice as much for a Insta360 X3.
