Again, hit out of the park. Love everything about this conversation! Love the attitude to music, the story telling, Susan's clear priorities. And Andrew as always, following along, sensitively perceiving the nuance of her experiences, pointing her attention to what he, as we, wants to know. He produces her stories like molding a song, minimal intervention, but to the point, steering it. Masterful. I do so love these! Well done you guys :)

I'm a music production and songwriting student at BIMM University in Birmingham England. this was given to us as a deep dive resource, we didn't have to watch it but I'm really glad I decided too. so far its been a brilliant watch and its nice to see some other female representation in the side of the music industry. thank you!

I am so enamored that we are hearing first hand how Prince worked within his many skill sets. Fantastic interview!

When Clapton was asked how it felt to be the best guitar player in the world he said he didn’t know, ask Prince. This anecdote isn’t true apparently, but I agree with the sentiment. Great interview. Two fascinating titans of production.

A reflection after about 30 years working in creative is that creatives needs to learn communication.
It's not easy to communicate creative visions but it is doable.
When for instance a musician/artist doesn't "feel right", sit down, talk. Make the person point out WHAT she/he is not satisfied with and try to come up with a creative solution together.
If your creative work has no financial limits, well go on and spend as much time you want.
But how much of music business today is done that?
Much of the creative work is learning to understand each other for sure. But so much can be done so much easier (faster) if you just learn how to communicate.

[Sorry personally I need to learn to check spelling … fixed some]

Super interesting! For what it's worth, my cats sure know the difference between lossy and lossless formats. Playing lossy they'll leave the room. Playing 16/44.1 .wav they won't leave the room, but aren't noticeable emotionally triggered either. Playing a SACD original DSD they will both join me in the sweet spot.😻
