King & Lionheart - Animatic (Hollow Knight )

Oh good heavens I've let this channel collect so much dust. My bad gang university's got hands for days

Nevertheless, hi :) This animatic has been in the works for the past 3-ish years. I remember starting to work on it almost right after Honey I'm Home actually! I've worked on it on and off since then, which is why you might just notice a few style (and brush) changes in certain parts. Hope it's not too distracting!

Not much else to say other than I'm very happy to finally be able to share this one! The relationship between the hollow knight and the pale king has always been very interesting to me, and they do also happen to be my two favourite characters in the game! They hurt me. So much

Not gonna lie, the animation of the Hollow Knight's Shade flying at the Radiance was kinda funny in a way? Like, it's making eye contact with basically a physical god like, "Hey bitch, remember me!?"

You know, this portrayal of the Hollow Knight makes me very happy that in the godhome ending, it is shown that they were still alive. Like bro finally got to stop being in eternal stasis.

The part with PV growing up and suprassing PK in height absolutely stabbed me in the heart.

I always wished that The Hollow Knight and the Pale King could have gotten their happy ending. This is so good.

From 1:09 to 1:23 MY HEART- This-this- I don’t have words 😭 this just broke me- just because everyone talks about how THK would have feel when entering the Black Egg, but no one talks how TPK had feel, if it’s true that THK had feelings because of his father that means that TPK loved them

That ending is just- ah it gets me every bloody time.

THK getting blasted straight to the afterlife, only to find themselves in a familiar place to find their father, who is just proud of their child- agh.

I can't help but think like- in the fight before hornet comes in with the support, the radiance is mostly in control but once THK recognizes the same vessel they left behind who knows how long ago, that's when they start fighting back. Partly as an apology for not coming to help, and to finish what was started, as it knows it isn't fit anymore.

At the end, PV must have been having such mixed emotions (ironically)

But…that means he died-

GOD there are so many tiny details in this that make it so fucking good and people have pointed those out, but something that REALLY gets me is the way they just sort of take in their freedom at the end, they seem so relieved. and then the way they go towards their father, it just seems like they’d be feeling so much. Maybe they embrace at the end or maybe their emotions overwhelm them and take them to their knees but either way, I love that you ended it on the note that they finally get some closure and comfort and catharsis. They really deserve it 😭

(Also the song choice is so perfect, all the scenes with the vessels in the abyss as the creatures below the deck made me feel insane. It’s so good)

This seems weird to say, but I love how much personality the hollow knight has, even though its not supposed to have personality. This is instantly one of my new favorite animatics. Excellent song choice too.

1:51 I WILL admit I had a split second where I was like "pale king???" but like. im aware that doesn't even super look like the pale king esp in your art style. just for a moment tho
