A major topic of statics is the analysis of trusses. Trusses occur in many parts of engineering design. To analyze these structures we must make several assumptions. The analysis we will cover will force all truss members to be two-force members. This limits the members to only tension or compression.
This analysis is important for calculating span, pitch, and other aspects of structural design.
These lessons are an introduction to the topic of Engineering Mechanics: Statics. The lessons follow the chapter progression in R.C. Hibbeler Engineering Mechanics: Statics textbook. They are brief tutorials of the main concepts.
