I made this video 13 years ago. The song has helped so many people through tough times in their lives and I have had the privilege to hear about their stories through the comment section of this video.
3 weeks ago my girlfriend broke up with me after 9 years of relationship. It’s so weird to listen to this song (that I have heard dozens of times before) with a broken heart. It’s like every word suddenly has even more meaning.
It is not too late for me to try to stop her from walking out that door. But I am not sure if I even should, because I think we might be happier without one another in the end. I still love her though. Life is hard sometimes. My sympathies to all of you going through tough times right now. It will get better.

This girl looks like my dear wife that I lost to cancer. She was the kindest soul I ever met and absolutely everyone that met her became an instant friend. Over 500 people showed up at her funeral...I was completely blown away and shattered by the experiences. She was only 42 and left me alone with our son. God I miss her. : - (

My best friend of 11 years took his life this day 1 year ago over a breakup, and the name of this song was the last thing he tweeted. I had never heard it before but since then, I have listened to this song every day and it has not lost its impact on me, especially now that I am going through the same thing he must have been going through. Music is powerful, indeed.

You will be disappointed, frustrated, and sad... but when you truly love someone, you will come to realize that even if they aren't with you, you can teach yourself to be happy. If you truly love someone, then you will not force them to be with you. Their happiness is the source of your happiness, and as long as they are happy, you will be. damn I must say this is in my top 5 most saddest break up songs.  It's a song that doesn't make you cry, it's just a song that makes you feel the happiness you shared with 'that someone/your lover and best friend' - then makes you realize you can never see them again in your life.  That's what makes it sad.

10 years ago next month my twin sister and I had a call completely out of the blue..informing us that our mother had endured an extremely, severe, personuable stroke.
My mother lived 100 miles away from us & by the time we got there they had resuscitated twice and she was placed on Do Not Resuscitate.
