Belfast cowboy Was 11 years old when his dad bought him his first acoustic guitar. He learned the basics from the song book the Carter family. Way before that, when Van was tiny, he used to listen to the largest records collections in Northern Ireland that he’s dad owned (we think his dad was awesome 😸) at that time little van was exposed to diverse genres of music from Charlie Parker to Jimmy Rogers, Muddy Waters iand Hank Williams.
He formed his first band when he was 13 and since then he hasn’t stopped at all. He has recorded 41 albums and hundreds upon hundreds of songs. He hasn’t stopped touring either and he will turn 75 years of age in August this year
He said on a recent interview:
“ I am just doing now what I wanted to do when I was, you know 15, 16, 17, 18 years old “

This is an example of what happens when the musician gets out of the way of the flow, and just acts as a portal between the source of the music and the instrument doing the communication. Pure bliss, and an epiphany if ever there is one. The musical source using the artist as a way to communicate to everyone else a simple request:

"Hey!? Wake UP! There is so much more going on in your life than just your life!! So stay mindful; pay attention and enjoy the time with which you've been blessed.!"
