On this special pre-game ceremony, The Vancouver Canucks raised Markus Naslund's number 19 to the rafters. Naslund's number joined Stan Smyl's number 12 and Trevor Linden's number 16 as the only numbers to be retired in the history of the Vancouver Canucks franchise. John Shorthouse hosted the ceremony attended by Naslund and his family, friends, former teammates and Canucks management, and a sold-out crowd prior to puck drop in Vancouver's game versus the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Classy, classy player. He was such a humble and skilled player. Probably the best Canuck ever, tied with Linden. Thank you, Markus, for all the great memories you gave to us Canucks fans and our great city of Vancouver. A true definition of class and leadership. Once again, thank you Nazzy!

Some of the best years of my life so far was watching the West Coast Express line tear apart defenses and goalies around the league. Markus is a class act and will always be one of the best to ever put on a Vancouver uniform, Congrats

Forever Markus Naslund will always be the captain of my Canucks. With class and humility he quietly brought his A game every single night. The city of Vancouver and it's hockey fans owe a debt of gratitude to this 11th Captain of our beloved Canucks. Thank you Markus for all the thrilling moments you've given us over the years, your efforts will long be remembered.

I am proud of the Canucks for doing the right thing and giving this enormously classy and superb hockey player the respect and recognition he deserves as the greatest captain they have ever had

He still looks classy as ever.
He still looks as young and shy as ever.
He still looks like he should be playing!
He was an amazing player.
Can't believe how much of a spitting image his son is of him!
Definitely going to try and get opening ceremony tickets now :P.

Was nice to see him looking quite chocked at times. Still classy nazzy! Part 2 now!

Damn how we miss his wrist shot!
Glad they retired his number.
And gotta give Shorty props. He did a damn good presentation imo. Looked like he was havin fun. And yup, I shed a tear.
I remember I first moved to vancouver during the WCE days w/o even knowing it. That's when I got heavily into the Canucks.
I'll always remember Shorty's "oh, Captain, my Captain" Such an awesome line.
Thanks Nazzy for reigniting my love for the Canucks.
