This is great! Most of the other YouTube detailers work on new cars or completely avoid bringing up the rubber trim on their videos. Keep it up!!

I used the Maguires headlight restoration kit... Comes with 1800 up to 3000 sanding pads and then a light compound 🙌 worked a treat... Need to protect it now 🙌 thanks for the info 👌

The only video that taught me how to blacken my rubber seal that was discolored white. Thanks! I used my polishing compound to remove the upper layer and it revealed the black underneath. I tried for years without success and I was about to my new set of molding trim.

Great to see the results, just remember to use a compound that doesn't stain trim.
Mould causes the rubber to become pitted so removing the top layer is the only real option.
Good work, keep it up and thanks for sharing

Hey Phil, I think your use of the 'scuffy pad' first, then using the '0000' steel wool to refine the rubber works terrific. Great tip on an otherwise underused talent!

My neighbor is an old time hotrodder. He used lacquer thinner as it's old based and it works wonders.

The pink stuff is a good abbresive compound.

I used the steel wool pad with the same compound on my 2010 Challenger that was all pitted and rough and it came out so good!! I followed all of your steps and it’s night and day how the rubber looks now. 👍👍👍

Thank you very much for sharing this tip. So it also worked with my 2007 Toyota Avensis T25. 👍👍👍

I use Mothers Mag and wheel polish and a soft terry cloth towel. Works on my '91 4Runner and the 2005 Cadillac STS rubber trim. Will not hurt paint or glass. I then top coat it with Mothers Back to Black. It has no colorant and lasts longer than other brands I've tried. If the rubber is etched it just takes more rubbing, but it leaves no scratches and a glossy finish that sheds water better.

Great info! Thank you so much for posting this video! I have this issue with my 2013 Challenger. I was worried I was going to have to replace all the trim. Again, thank you so much!

Magic Eraser or Turtle Wax Miracle Cleaning Sponges may be an option for trim that is not so old and hammered. Impressive results.
