It's called bifurcation, it splits the divorce proceedings into two parts, the first being the dissolution of the marriage with the financial settlement to come later. I did the same kind of divorce, it's done when assets can't be agreed upon but you want to dissolve the marriage while it can take years to finalized the financial settlement.

I think that's how it should always be. Why force two people who are constantly fighting stay married until everything is settled. Having a 2 part divorce would have saved my mom's sanity because my dad would always purposely mess up the paperwork pushing back the divorce for 3 years even though HE cheated for over 10 years and living with his mistress 🤦‍♀️

Remember everyone. If a woman acted like Kanye (with all his tweets and public outburst) she would be labeled as someone with mental disabilities. But since it’s Kanye, (who I’m pretty sure mentioned about being on meds a couple times and even Pete Davison took a stab at his mental issues I think) he’s just labeled as crazy and “needs to get his shit together”. I know bringing up gender inequality is annoying and blah blah but every time I see something about these two everyone shits on Kanye for being “crazy”. I’m no Kanye fan but I am an advocate for men’s mental health.
