It's galling to think that a 25 year old micro truck from Japan is a better day to day chore truck than most things you can buy new today.

I despise US import laws. The 25 year ban was just pushed on us by lobbyists. Cool truck tho

We love our Acty. My diesel f250 just sits in the garage now. We go all over in it and you get looks and thumbs up like you're driving a supercar.

25 years old, and 25 years newer than any modern US scrap.

Having the wheels that close to the front gives you incredible purchase when crawling. So cool!!

I might have to try out the next gen. I'm 6'4 and attempted to drive an early Sambar. My knees were actually above the steering wheel. I do still want one I can fit in.

I actually love the look of it. It isn’t trying to be something that it just isn’t but it looks way more modern and still has all of the kei car quicks yet it doesn’t look gimmicky. So cool.

Late 90s Civics had a very similar tiny hood prop. I was test driving one of those with my dad years ago and he tried forcefully closing the hood thinking it was held up by a gas strut, snapped the little prop right in half 😅 didn't end up buying the car but we did buy a new hood prop for the guy.

I'm in ENC. I see these on the road some Tokyo direct imports.. if I ever win the lottery...I want one. Especially if it has a pure lift bed. I mean the dump bed is cool and close second choice but a scissor lift bed is awesome. Killer gas milage and a lift platform with 4wd? It's too cool dude.

Legal in Washington on roads with up to 35 mph speed limit. And must have certain amount of lighting, seat belts, title, insurance etc.

Unfortunately many states are making a real effort to keep these vehicles from being street legal. Big government is your friend …..

The fact the engine is basically outside cracks me up. Want one so bad!

In Canada we can import kei trucks all the way up to 2009 and pretty soon 2010

(No, I'm not trying to brag, I'm simply stating the situation regarding imports in Canada. I'm adding this here because it seems people got the wrong idea with my comment, and it's pretty annoying getting the same response.)

my first car was the suzuki super carry panel van. i still have a soft spot for that little death-trap. i would love a van version of the honda acty.

Right hand drive is very useful, when the truck is being used for collecting garbage from trash bins in parks, or other non-car zones. (Harbours, pedestrian only shopping zones, car parks, etc.)

You are the most candid and entertaining presenter of kei trucks ive ever seen!
I wonder if wheel spacers can be added to kei trucks like how Mitsubishi made the Pajero JR 60 inches wide with those flared fenders added onto a base Pajero Mini. The Suzuki samurai, which was sold in the us in the 80s and 90s, is also 60 inches wide. Seems like if you could make a kei truck 60in wide with wheel spacers and some matching cosmetic flared fenders, it should be road legal.

Are they still available in 4x4? That approach angle on the front wheel seems very impressive!

As much of improvements on creature comfort and stability were, many users complained about worsened turning radius and as a result, Honda went back to cab over layout on the next generation Acty.
