Have you wondered if it's worth it to get the bigger machine? In this video I compare the throat (also called harp) size of the two machines I own: the Brother PQ1500SL straight stitch sewing machine and the CS5055PRW multi function stitch sewing machine. I break down how I arrived at the size for each throat space, then compare, and finally some commentary on the advantages of having a larger machine.

Size really does matter in sewing machines!

Actually, the only (very simplified) measurement we tend to need for quilting is mainly: the (width or length) DISTANCE between the needle and across to the space of the machine's 'throat'. However, seeing the differences you've shown, IT"S a 'massive' difference overall. I purchased Janome 6700P which looks similar, but (WOW) it REALLY does EVERYTHING I need for sewing, quilting and I'm having so much fun! Thank you for sharing your video. :)

Very important information, especially as I contemplate which to purchase?! Thanks so much.

For the arithmetic geeks out there trying to calculate with the metric numbers, yes, I know that my formulas won't multiply to match. For some reason I either can't remember from my advanced algebra days or because I was number crunching really late and missed a crucial detail, every time I multiple in the formulas with metric it's way off, yet doing addition like in the case of the perimeter and circumference formulas had no conversion disparities. So to save confusion, I just show applying the formula in the case of the inches and simply use a converter to equate the figure in centimeters.

Porqué no hacen una máquina de coser con estas medidas, pero que también haga zigzag y puntadas decorativas..ah y que sea de alta velocidad?
