Herod's Pagan Temple

Herod the Great is famous for expanding the second temple, but he had also built pagan temples for Augustus.

According to the ancient historian, Josephus Flavius, Herod built three temples for the Romans. One in Caesarea Maritima, one in Samaria, but the third one could not be identified for a long time.

Where is the missing temple, and did archaeologists finally find it at the site of Horvat Omrit? Why did Herod build it in the first place? And how does this all point to and explain Herod's desire to kill Jesus?

just today, I've found your videos, December 30, 2019. One of my bucket list entries was to visit Jerusalem. But that will never come true. I just turned 50 and I am in my 6th year of being diagnosed with ALS. I am currently on a ventilator, but only at night. I am in a facility for three years. Taken away from my wife and 3 wonderful boys that are 17; 15; and 9. Anyway I just wanted to post a very heartwarming, Thank you for your explorations! I have watched many of your videos and I think you are doing a fantastic job of filming the places that are not really excusable to tourism for the average person. Herod was NOT Jewish as stated in this video. Herod was born in Edom, but he really wanted to be Jewish so that the Jewish people would accept him as their king. Herod was the son of the Idumean Governor Antipater who became the governor as a reward for rescuing Julius Caesar in Alexandria, Egypt. Herod, Antipater's son was made king of Judea by the Roman Senate in 40 B.C. as Herod had developed many contacts in Rome.  The truth is Herod was a power-hungry villain who murdered any Jew (including any Jew left from the Hasmonean Dynasty) that he felt could one day challenge his power base. On his father’s side he was an Idumean-"Jew" (an oxymoron), from a family of Idumean so-called converts; on his mother’s side, he was Nabatean, totally not Jewish—his mother was a Nabatean Princess—an Arabic tribe in southern Jordan. According to Jewish law, Herod was NOT at all a Jew.
