It’s so awesome they went to Lake Geneva first… I grew up there as a child… So I I only thought places were like that when I was younger… And then I moved to Chicago and realized oh, everyone from Chicago comes to LG for vacations or their “summer cabins“… That are larger than most average homes… It really was idyllic, I did the whole walk around the lake, I think it was closer to 24 miles or something… And then I did the swim across the lake… And that was near where Abby Springs starts and across the lake was near Williams Bay kind of… Also walking the lake when it’s frozen… And doing all the skiing when it was the Playboy club and then switching to americana, also majestic, and alpine valley area… I didn’t realize just how awesome it was… And then we moved to Highland Park, which was just as nice… If not nicer… Not a vacation place but a really nice place to grow up in high school… Now I’m in the city of Chicago… I love the cities so much but the way they run the city, I’m starting to hate it so much, wanting to go back to let you never and away from all this city madness because they run it so poorly… Constant construction in the summertime, the roads are awful… The politicians are so corrupt… Nothing ever changes it’s just seems to get worse… Hopefully it will one day. But I really do miss those early days election ever, probably end up going back one day..

1:00:01 “her lifelong companion” is very much “historians say they were good friends” energy

As a young person, I liked the water rides at Great America.

I think we had either the pontiac or chevy wagon.. 75? With the fake wood luxury vinyl seats and backwards facing seats to make us kids 🤢 often sick so I avoided those seats..ugh bad idea.. I can’t believe how huge they were..and they weren’t exactly safe to drive in wet or snowy conditions.. but if you’re old enough to remember these beasts they were kind of kool..At least we upgraded to the Jeep Cherokee afterwards..in orange.. I loved that car..

I'm interested in knowing more about Union Pier and the other historical African-American resorts.

They could put the mailbox at the end of the pier but then I guess you wouldn't have a show📫

Lived in the Dunes until 1975. One winter day while walking my dog in the area of Hadenfeldt Road between US 12 and US 20, I came across an overgrown grave. I told the rangers about it. Don't know if they id'd the person buried or not.

There is no way in hell I would want a job delivering mail jumping off ships. To be honest, I don't know how to swim well. I would love to visit Lake Geneva. Never knew Maytag was a person.

Chicago seems like a lot of fun if it wasn't so violent.
