VirtualBox VS Hyper-V - Which should you use?

With many different hypervisors out there, choosing one to suit your needs may be challenging. In this video, we'll be comparing two "free" hypervisors - Hyper-V and VirtualBox. We'll be looking at how each of them preform, and which one is the best for the most scenarios.

Don't quite get why people mention that Hyper-V is "technically not free". If you already have the OS as many do, it IS free. The major complaint I can see being valid is that it's not cross platform like other options since you obviously need Windows for it. If you have Win {whatever version} Pro, use it or don't use it. Kinda the point, you have options so use whatever works best for you.

I prefer Virtualbox because I don't know how to get aero in Hyper-V in Windows 7/Vista so, virtualbox is easier to use.

I like them both, but I prefer Hyper-V with all the cool stuff you can do with Powershell Direct from the host machine..

I always find that VirtualBox always has issues with my virtual machines, whether it be boot issues or just corrupted Windows installs.

Hyper-V is not really "free." You need a Windows license to use it, and you are limited to using Windows as the Host OS. KVM / QEMU, Xen, and Virtual Box on the other hand are open source, with no Windows licensing / hosting requirement.

For me in Hyper V the guest os runs faster, but I use VBox cause of its functions

Hyper-V is not good in my opinion since is not avilable to all platforms and heck even windows 10 home edition on the other hand virtualbox supports all platforms and you could download older build if your os is like windows 2000, xp and vista

I only recommended to use virtualbox or VMware without speed up windows Vista windows 10 or windows 8 8.1 10x faster with aero
