Flushing your water heater just got simple and effective with the Sediment Buster. Most homeowners avoid flushing their water heaters because it seems complicated, but with this tool, it’s now possible for anyone to do it easily—no more need for wires, augers, or guesswork. If you can hand-tighten the tool to your heater and attach a hose, you’re ready to go!
Key Features:
Plumber Approved: Loved by plumbers for its ability to break through tough clogs and fully drain tanks (not just a water pressure flush). The clear window allows you to see the sediment removal process in real time—no more guessing.
Easy for Homeowners: Hand-tighten swivel for a quick, mess-free setup. Comes with simple instructions and video tutorials to walk you through every step.
Non-Invasive: The patented air pressure process is safe for your tank—no special tools, coat hangers, or augers needed. Sediment Buster clears clogs right through the existing drain valve.
Versatile & Compatible: Fits standard 3/4" GHT drain valves and can drain in any direction (up, down, sideways). Works with an extension hose for tricky tank locations.
Maximizes Efficiency: Equipped with a full-port drain design to ensure all sediment is removed, restoring hot water, improving pressure, and increasing efficiency.
Any Air Pump: Works with any standard air pump, including hand or bicycle pumps, CO2 or Air Compressor
Sample Collection: The tool can even take sediment samples to show you what’s lurking in your tank.

Sediment Buster Instructions
4 STEP Set-up Process
1. Turn off power or gas to water heater
2. Turn on multiple hot water faucets to purge out hot water and allow tank to cool
3. Attach the black male end of the Sediment Buster to a full port hose that leads to a drain or outside
4. Attach the yellow female swivel end of the Sediment Buster to the water heater drain valve.
*Important: Verify the black rubber gasket is seated inside the yellow swivel and thread it squarely without stripping the threads or overtightening.
Now you are ready to flush and/or drain the tank (empty) (Do both for best results!)
Option 1: Flushing the Water Heater Tank
Flushing is the process of utilizing the home’s water pressure to push water out of the drain valve. All faucets are turned OFF (closed), and the cold-water intake remains ON (open).
1. With the Sediment Buster valve turned ON, open the water heater drain valve.
2. If water is not flowing or only trickling out, close the Sediment Buster valve, attach your air pump, and inject a few short bursts of air to break up the clog
3. Open the Sediment Buster valve and allow the tank to flush from the home’s water pressure.
4. If water is flowing, with the Sediment buster valve remaining open, periodically inject short bursts of air into the tank as the tank continues to flush to break loose sediment and stir the tank.
*Important: If you believe the tank is not flushing out sediment or dirty water but should be, you may want to drain the tank empty and rinse and clean the tank.
Option 2: Drain (empty), Rinse and Clean Method
How to clean your tank more thoroughly, or just drain (empty) the tank
All hot water faucets are turned ON (open) to create venting (tank depressurized), and the cold-water intake is turned OFF (closed).
1. With the Sediment Buster valve turned OFF, open the water heater drain valve
2. Attach your air pump and inject a few bursts of air to break up the clogs and stir the tank
3. Open the Sediment Buster valve and begin draining. Continually inject bursts of air with the Sediment Buster valve open to facilitate the draining process.
4. Once the tank is empty, replace the drain valve if needed (See Tips & Tricks), otherwise proceed to #5.
5. Introduce water on and off from the cold-water intake to move sediment towards the drain valve. Simultaneously Inject air to create two points of agitation and water/sediment movement. With short bursts, the Sediment Buster will also push/suck sediment (see videos). Repeat this step multiple times.
6. Once Finished, close drain valve, remove Sediment Buster, and fill tank back up. Keep the hot water fixtures ON (open) until water returns in full to all your fixtures, then turn the power back on!
