Michael Spyers is a unique singer and artist. I don’t know any more tenors who can sing Count Almaviva with “Cessa...” and Wagner’s heroic parts with equal success. The main thing is everything is on the highest level.

I saw this Ring last year in Bayreuth. The sound inside the hall is indescribable. It surrounds you and you come away finally hearing Wagner as it is meant to be heard

Michael Spyres does a great job here! Bravo.
The diction is really good and only in few moments a little unclear. His warmer timbre fits the role and is a welcomed alternative to other recent interpretations.
He is a unique singer with amazing vocal abilities. I hope he does not overstretch his instrument by singing the heavier Wagnerian heroes, but what a Lohengrin and Walther he will be.

I was there for the second cycle, and the real star was Simone Young - who, let's remember, was a relatively late replacement and managed to master the unique acoustic beautifully. Catherine Foster's Brünnhilde didn't take wing until Götterdämmerung where she owned the role both vocally and physically IMO.

Isn't there a better Brünnhilde out there for Bayreuth to hire than Catherine Foster? She's been there for more than 10 years, I think it would be okay to move on to the next one at this point

Wonderful cast! That is, except for Foster, just another in the long line of sopranos who took on Brunnhilde too soon, or shouldn't have sung it at all.
