I bought a Comins GCS 16-2 a couple of years ago and I just totally love it. THE best fret work I have ever felt. Bill Comins is a genius. I am not sure how he makes a guitar this good at this price range. It must be magic.

Hi Tim - just today picked up a Comins GCS 16 -1 Blonde from Mak's Guitars just off Oxford st., London. Six months wait but worth it. Great strong acoustic voice and even better plugged in. Sweet jazz tone and surprisingly versatile for a single pickup. Good for country and blues too as well as jazz. Also looks fine. Thanks for pointing me in this direction. So many guitars and so little space to pleased to get some informed sign posting to Comins Guitars. BW - Stevie B

Thank you for this awesome demo. I've been playing a 175 for years now and wanted to get try something different. I think this is the way to go!

I played one of those today and it had flat-wound on and it sounded really mellow I was I didn't really get a chance to listen to a good but I was impressed with the neck and the frets and that makes such a difference when you feel so comfortable playing you know it sounded like a L5

Two years ago at the Artisan Guitar show in Harrisburg PA I sat next to Bill Comins and couldn’t bring myself to pull the trigger on that guitar! Of course, now I regret it! On a a side note Bill is a super nice, down to earth, no pressure kind of guy!

Sweet guitar. I looked them up a while ago and the approach to building these is spot on.
Thanks Tim!

Tim - just put a deposit on a blonde Comins GCS 16 1 at Msk’s Guitars in London. Should be in the UK for February. Thanks for the demo. Steve

It's true: Some guitars have "that sound" built in to them. The GCS -16 is one of them. Nice and punchy and musical way up the neck. I bought a 16-2 and I want a GCS1, too. They feel just right. In a world of stuff, this stuff stands out.

I love mine, its the only "jazz box" ive ever owned. After a few months i swapped the strings for flat wounds and was surprised to find that the bridge is not attached, it just fell off! I was distraught, thought i had done something irreversible for not knowing how to swap strings on an archtop. I figured out how to reposition the bridge and fortunately the intonation didnt need any adjustments. Phew!

I own some nice archtops as well but my problem is I don't deserve any of them - this would be another one that I can't play either. Doesn't stop me from wanting one, though. Thanks a lot, Tim.

What a fantastic sounding and looking guitar - and I can see right away from your face that you like it! As far as I’m concerned, if it’s good enough for you it’s more than good enough for me... I should start looking for one!

Richlite really is the future.. I have 3 guitars with a richlite fretboard, and 2 more coming. Love them!

Beautiful. It is true. You could make a trash can lid sound incredible. It is in your hands and your heart. Now some may take more effort on your part, but the result is always always incredible. The stability issue is a real one and you make a solid point. And it does have a lot of air around each note. Great Demo.

I missed an opportunity to buy a used one in excellent condition. Saving for a new one now...

sounds amazing. I’ve never heard of these guitars. Really cool. I play mostly acoustic, and have never thought to try a big body electric. I have had ES style guitars, but never cared for them. If I could get my hands on one to try, it might be a nice addition to my arsenal. 🐰🎶🎸🤘
