This video lacks context. Why should we consider living without X products. Who wants to, or is asking us to, live without X?

All products can be replaced, or exchanged for an alternative when there is sufficient pressure to do so: think Fanta or the Haber process. Necessity is a mother.

Sigh. Short clips like those are supposed to make people aware of how dependent they are from the products of a certain country and only a German broadcaster would get the idea to use foreign ones instead of native ones.

Yes, living without US-American products is a hard task - not only because of the entertainment stuff, but also because computer chips are pretty much only US-American brands. In a way, we're at least indirectly dependent on US-products. However, there are also lots of German products like in the machine (e.g. industrial robots) and chemistry sectors which to replace would be an equally hard task for other countries.
