Juninho was SO GOOD at Free Kicks, He Scored Them as Easily as Penalties

In the early 1990s to late 2000s there was a Brazilian player who was scoring free kicks as easily as taking penalties themselves. As crazy as it seems, nearly half of the almost 200 goals scored Juninhos career were from free kicks.

But as special as Juninho was, compared to the legendary Brazilian footballers of his generation, he just never was able to outshine them –and today he’s only mostly remembered by Brazil and Ligue 1 fans, so now - it’s time we give his career a look and see just how good the free kick king of football was.

Leave a like if you enjoyed and let me know what vid you want next 🙏 ❤️

As a Lyon fan, it’s so good to see Juninho getting his flowers, he is our biggest legend of the club, he scored 101 goals for the club, some of his free kicks are so legendary like against Barça, it’s sad to see young fans calling Messi or Cristiano the free kicks goats lol

His freekicks were so good the opposing teams were even afraid of doing any fouls in their defending half. He could score from anywhere it was completle insanity.

When you are the guy to take a free kick in presence of Carlos, Ronaldinho, etc you know you are on a god's level.

In one interviev Remy Vercouter( GK for Lyon at the time) said: In training days, when he practiced free kicks he attempted 40 shots a day... AND 90% of a time a have to take the ball from the net, he scores left, right and centre. Absolute legend of a sport and also One of the most EFFICIENT

He is now a commentator in a Brazilian “movement” against the monopoly over football we have been under since forever. TV channels had a HUGE monopoly over streaming rights, but due to the pandemic they f’d up and now we are able to watch some games through YouTube(Most notably the WC games) and he is one of the commentators in this project. His insight over the game and players is impressive and he would call the shots of coaches before they made any, which is insane when you are watching a game and he speaks up like “Number 8 jumped a little bit too late, so he is either tired or unfocused so coach will switch him” and it happens.

Growing up in the early 2000's as a young teenager in Australia even I knew if his legendary free kicks even though football isn't considered a big sport here (at least back then). Juninho is the undisputed dead ball GOAT. I could watch a compilation of him each day and not get bored.

It’s so good to see the “Reizinho da Colina” - as we call him in Vasco da Gama - finally getting some recognition for his unmatchable free kick skills!

I remember thinking pro evolution was unrealistic and nobody could score free kicks that consistently, then I saw his highlight reel🤯

Juninho changed the game of fùtbol with his own unique style of free kicks. That deserves some respect right there.

The first time I saw Juninho was when he scored against Barcelona. I quickly became a fan. I still have his Lyon jersey

7:11 wtf is that goal

Juninho made sure the ball landed precisely in front of the keeper, so it would bounce from the kick's momentum and get into the net.

instead of using a full-powered kick into the top corner and whatnot...

what a beast

I remember this guy well, the best free kick taker in history and at the time, as an English man, we had David beckham to add to the mix. Thanks for making this Raymar- this guy deserves to be highlighted
