Great video one quick question though. Is the heat gun is necessary? It costs about as much as all the other tools combined so it effectively doubles the price and if it isn't required I'd rather no spend $30 dollars on it.

LOL - I got all the way to the glass removal and realized that it was just my screen protector that was cracked & the nexus glass was fine - if you are not sure I recommend hitting the front with the heat gun lightly and removing the screen protector first! :-)

Great video!! I replaced my cracked screen using a screen with frame. I was very careful to transfer over all of the components (including all the little rubber gaskets and proximity sensor pad). Got it all back together and everything works great, except my cell service is very spotty now (I have never had an issue with it before). Searching the internet has led me to find many others have had this problem, but I have not found any solutions. You have any ideas what could cause this? Thanks!!

I have an extra step at 3:13. Its like an extra really tough metal tape over the display assembly cable.

Great vid, but the suggestion for some close ups is a good one. And someone edited out the most valuable few seconds - when the cover or board comes off, and more parts are revealed... Let a few seconds go by will ya? :) Makes it easier to pause.

Thanks alot for this tutorial. I broke my nexus 5x screen too last two weeks and i'm currently looking for a replacement. Eventhough the screen is broken, the touch is working fine. PLEASE DO I HAVE TO BUY BOTH THE LCD AND THE TOUCH TOGETHER OR I ONLY NEED TO GET THE BROKEN LCD AND USE THE OLD TOUCH. In other words, can the screen/broken glass be detached from the touch?

Why is removing the battery and cameras necessary if the screen can be replaced without doing so? I ended up removing the battery before realizing this and I wondering if the battery will be ok if it bent a little? The glue was quite strong and I ended up bending the sides where I was prying, No punctures or anything.
