Toyota Tacoma Wind Noise Fix!

Quiet your cabin! Fix the wind noise on your Gen 2 Tacoma. Not only did this fix the 70mph howl, but it significantly quiets the cabin at lower speeds.

It’s a 3/8”x1/2”x7’ gasket that fits perfectly on the painted area of the door opening. After a couple days it actually molds itself to fit even better.

The Taco part number is V30-0731B7-1. I’m not sure if they still make it but here is the link for their website with what appears to be the current product:

Here’s a link for a similar product if you cannot find the taco one that I used.

Struggled to find the source of that noise for over a year. Did this repair on the road in Tampa and worked perfect. Got the last piece of weatherstripping the store had in stock and after a 5 minute warm up and install, the truck is now super quiet. Thanks sir for the quick and painless fix to a frustrating problem!!

Looking forward to doing this next week. I have been dealing with this for 8 freaking years in Arizona. Only a few months out of the year, but it will be nice to get rid of it for good! THANK YOU!

Thanks for this tip. It was an amazingly easy and cheap fix to a problem that drove me crazy on my Tacoma. I've driven in some pretty horrific cross winds since I installed this stuff and NO HOWL! Thanks!

Thank you for posting this video. I just bought a 2015 Tacoma, and I immediately had that issue driving home. Yesterday, we were trying to figure out where it was coming from. Found your video and the Taco weather strips. Problem solved.

Perfect. I just noticed that hum noise on the passenger side while driving on the highway. It was pretty alarming at first but I quickly came to believe it was some sort of wind related noise as it would come and go with different speeds and wind directions. Thanks!

This video is top shelf.! I have a 2015 Tacoma and that noise drives me and passengers crazy. I’m definitely going to buy two 7ft lengths of that weather stripping, and install it. THANK YOU!!

My 2011 Tacoma did this from day one. The dealer could not hear it, so I've been living with it for 9 years now. Nasty howl at around 75 mph. With $7.00 worth of small D shaped stripping and 10 minutes of labor.... problem solved. I should have done this years ago. Thanks !!

My 2014 FJ cruiser has the wind noise. Didnt know if it was the roof rack or what. Found your video when searching my problem.

I added the gasket exactly as you did and it was a mixed bag. Noise from the front edge of the door was quieted but the vertical back edge of the door was far worse. It sounded as if the door wasn’t even closed. Since it was all the gasket I had I took it off and I decided to order a helluva lot more so I can do the entire perimeter of the door. I also ordered slightly thinner gasket.

Man this just started today for me. Whistling over 50mph, crack the window and the whistling stops. I’ll have to try this!!

I thought it was a leaky windshield, but since you described the noise perfectly this must be the cause! This is the first video i've seen of yours and if this works you got yourself a new subscriber!

Wow, that solves a major issue gojng on 10 years. Usually when I get to 75-80 mph. First it felt like the passanger side front tire. Checked it out. Wasn't that and eventually figured it was some kind of wind reverberation. Then I thought it was the antenna (maybe causing some weird wind flow)-- I lost my OEM antenna early on at a car wash and replaced it with something from O'Reilly's.I actually ordered an OEM antenna from a Toyota dealership thinking that woukd fix it. Didn't work. Then I installed wind guards. I will say the wind guards DID reduce the problem but didn't 100% eliminate it.

But wow, thanks for this info. I love my Tacoma, but this has been an annoyance for a while now. Ordered the parts, just waiting to install.
