Behind The Scenes Of The Witcher Season 2

Season 2 of The Witcher is shaping up to be pretty epic and we’ve got some info on what’s been up behind the scenes these past few years. While Henry Cavill has always done his own stunts on this show, you’ll be surprised the reason for his injury did not come from some fancy sword trick. But he does show us how the healing process went. We take a dive into the set for Kaer Morhen which took most of its inspiration from the video game. There are some cool weapons, a fancy new suit of armour, the same old wig but new, more painful methods to applying it, a ton of contact lenses, which, did you know they can be dangerous? Cavill is a huge fantasy nerd and so when he caught wind that The Witcher was happening, he jumped on the opportunity to audition. When he got the role, he brought all of his expertise with him and shaped his character going into season 2. Trust us, you’ll like him just a little better this season. The guy has incredibly long work days - so long it affected his workout routine and yet he managed to stay in shape and perform all those stunts himself. And the most exciting part, they brought a new VXF team on board. Can you guess which one? It should really help give this show a fighting edge. Maybe it will even take Netflix’s most watched title! (And pass Squid Game? Probably not). Season 2 is sure to bring a ton of new surprises, hopefully pleasing fans of the books, fans of the game, fans of both and fans of the show. Okay you can’t please everybody but they sure did their best, filming in the height of COVID.

You can tell there is a huge difference with the CGI, special effects, and lighting. Netflix definitely gave them a huger budget than season 1. It's way better.

It will never be Game of Thrones because the entire story already exists so there will not be a HORRIBLE letdown, ruining the entire series like with GOT! They are adapting one of my favorite series from fantasy and it is already ALL THERE. It is brilliant.

I read the books and got immersed in the universe before they were "hip" and "cool". Are there things that are different than the books? Yes. Was I shellshocked when the show did things different than the books? Absolutely. Do I give a fuck? Why would I? If you love the books, read the books. If you want to treat games as cannon, go ahead and do that (Although the ending in the books fit the world that we were put in, I liked how the games continued the story). I read, played, and watched all I could and now I'm more than happy to consume a different story than there was in the books. Seeing Cintra, the golden dragon, Geralt helping with the strzyga (idk how it is called in english, foltest's daughter), those scenes reminded me of the time I used to read witcher as a kid. Just be happy for the ride and don't be so ass mad. And I won't lie, as a Polish person, I'm just happy that so many people are immersed in the universe that was created by a Polish person. It's just like the people who read LOTR and HP. The book readers were crying about the differences made in the movies, while people new to those worlds fell in love and got immersed into it, perhaps reading the books afterwards. People who care about the books will read the books, people who want to enjoy the show can enjoy the show. Just a while ago people were shitting on Sapkowski and saying how the games popularized his books, what do you think will happen after the show after so many people watch it? For many people it starts with a movie, show, maybe a game, and if they will want to see the books for what they are, they will.
