Worms in BANANAS debunked under the microscope!

So there is this cowboy microscope channel which is always, forever, always finding worms and nematodes in various food items - In one video, they find worms in freshly cut banana. Highly unlikely! Unfortunately, these videos receive quite a bit of attention and this one was no exception. It has 140M views across social media and so there are definitely people who, after watching, now believe worms live inside fresh bananas. Happy to share that this isn't true :)

With great microscope, comes great responsibility.

To the people who are all like "but you only checked ONE banana" i would like to point out that even tho it was only one banana, the flesh under the microscope of the original looked absolutely nothing like the one here. No pores or any sort of pattern that indicates we are looking at something closely, just white slimy stuff.

My uncle told me that back in the days, if there was a worm in an apple it means that the apple is good. He says that now if even worms don't want the apple because there is too much chemicals in it

Bananas are overly sprayed with pesticides too, so it feels like one of the least possible fruits to have worms...

Could have been the fact that pretty much any produce will have a few fruits/veggies that have little bugs in them.
100% you've eaten some before. It isn't anything to worry about.

Hey all - obviously this doesn’t represent all bananas - but neither does the banana in old mates video 🥰

The message of this video is ultimately to show you that not everything is believable online - even this.

I actually have trauma from bananas. I once mindlessly ate a banana. About more than a half way through, I noticed that there was a bunch of maggots crawling around the inside of the banana.
