Outstanding information. I’m testing the front impact sensor on my 2008 F150 that Ford graciously decided to discontinue with no alternative options. My clock spring is good and nothing else seems to be malfunctioning. So the impact sensor is the next most likely suspect. But I was unsure what to look for when testing it with my multimeter. Thank you for this information!

nice! looks exactly as Tesla Model 3/Y sensor. Thank you Sir! Best regards from Ukraine Odesa

When he says zero resistance he means OL. This means it has infinite resistance, or basically it means that the circuit has opened. A sensor that reads OL will no longer complete the loop for the srs circuit to be completed.

can this be done on the wiring from car without having to remove the sensor ?

I had a faulty sensor and when I tested it against the new one, the resistance was lower, but it wasn't an open circuit, what's going on there? When I put the new one in it's place the dash light went off and it was all fine.

Did it just go bad or was it after a collision?

This is garbage. Impact sensors from different car manufacturers can have very different internal designs. Some have mechanical triggers inside where this resistance testing may work. Others use internal accelerometers in which case resistance testing doesnt work. There may be other types of internal designs where resistance testing may or may not work. It's ignorant to suggest this resistance testing can be used universally on all impact sensors.
