Commandos, Total Annihilation and Warcraft are not forgotten.

The best game I played as a kid for a long time was Kingdoms: Total Annihilation. It was a very good game, it had a unique mechanic where the more a unit killed, the stronger it became, even changing the unit's designer, making it golden. There was an elder dragon system, each race had its own supreme dragon, each hero had their own skills and magic. Kigdoms was a game with unique mechanics that I haven't found until today!

A real forgotten game is Total Annihilation : Kingdoms

Oh man, no signs of BC Kings, a RTS based in cavemen vs mutants where each have their own technology and it is a frenetic game.
Or Jurassic War, a very old RTS based in prehistoric times where there are eight factions with their own way of playing; even Brütal Legend (despite the adventure open world it is known, it is also a forgotten RTS).
Or Battle of Survival (BOS wars); a small freeware RTS game.
Or Impossible Creatures, which whole premise is the mixture of two animal DNA to create your units.

You should give a shoutout to the M.A.X. games.

Also, Lords of the Realm games, which are the mechanical precursor to Total War with both RTS combat encounters, and turn-based province management, with economy and diplomacy.

Total Annihilation: Kingdoms and Alienation are the kings of the limbo, the best ever forgotten ones!

Since its not here, Sim Ant (and some other sim games) might fit into the RTS mold. Mostly Sim Ant.

So, no mention about Blood & Magic being a D&D licensed game?

Well. Dune is not forgotten. In fact you can consider it the grand daddy of RTSs

bueno en cierta forma agradezco que no esté Warhammer 40K Dawn of War, pues evidentemente no esta olvidado por la comunidad al menos, que guapos estan los diseños de los "Vostroyan Firstborn" en el unification mod 7.0 :3

Do you remember an old strategy game with a race of dinosaurs? We are looking for a game from our childhood and we can't find it... it was an RTS, late 90's, early 2000's, similar to Primitive Wars. In the game you could play as a nation that consisted of dinosaurs, not only humanoids, there were no humans [no riders]. It's not Jurassic Wars, it's not Primitive Wasr, it's not Dawn of War from 1999, it's not Paraworld, it's not Seven Kingdoms, it's not Warlords Battlecry III... maybe you'll remember something? please help :(

I remember on my first laptop in 2000, Commandos Beyond the call of duty, would not work at all, even tested on a second pc, it always gave a "where's the cd" error.
