3:20 I think the issue with the "Wii U" is that the name didn't properly signify that it was a brand new flagship console. It just kind of sounds like a side-grade, like a switch lite, or switch OLED or 2DS.

"Switch 2" makes it very clear that this is a direct sequel console to the old one, so I don't think it'll suffer the same problem. Not to mention it's been almost 10 years since we've had a new flagship Nintendo console, so the hype around a new console being released is unlikely to be missed.

I'm not too surprised the item set in the trailer didn't have a double; assuming that's still the beginning of the track, 95 of 96 tracks in 8 Deluxe's first item set is all singles and Dragon Driftway just felt like being special. Especially with coins also returning I fully expect double items to as well

I think the "spinning fire creature" at 6:52 might be a Wonder Seed from Super Mario Bros. Wonder, specifically a yellow one, which is coincidentally found in desert levels, matching the track's aesthetic. If true, this could mean Wonder Effects are this game's gimmick. It'd be really cool to see!!

If you pause at this frame 9:03, you can see a mountain in the distance that has road around it, but it suddenly ends. This not only could mean that gliders are a thing in this game, but also anti-gravity! I'm so excited for this game already!!

For games reusing portions of tracks, there was a racing game called Split/Second that did this really successfully imo. You would go through a city in one track, driving through a construction site, and then past a tower, and on another track you would actually race right next to the tower and through a different part of the earlier construction site. It was really cool. Like it's the same part of a track, but your lines are different in it since you enter and exit at different places.

I guess the pink lines effect in front of Mario are just due to you only seeing your own but for the teaser they kinda modified the camera placement in-game so it doesn’t look like we’re playing as anyone but it’s secretly Mario pulling the strings :p

6:55 I could be wrong, but to me that looks like some kind of alternate item box. There are specific crimes where it resembles the iconic floating cube shape (if not the color), and a side route like that would make a bit more sense to have an item there as opposed to a hazard. If I had to guess, it’s either a bow guaranteed to give a specific type of item, or some sort of pickup that interacts with the new gimmick for this game.
