My own sentiments about the LHC, I find it difficult to believe that such a huge investment of time and energy is going toward an entirely peaceful end. It just doesn't make sense to me. So often when any massive amount of treasure and labor is put into a project, it's done for the gain of a small group of "important" people, whether it's the ruling class, or the wealthy, or warfare, which again is waged for the good of a small group of people, no matter how its sold to the general public. I simply cannot believe such an investment is purely to satisfy curiosity, even if the folks conducting research there aren't aware of it.
