Engine power is constrained at superspeedways like Daytona and Talladega, so teams use aerodynamics to gain an advantage. Teams adjust their cars to minimize drag, but then it's up to the drivers to find 'the draft' and to trust the drivers behind them to literally "bump" them into Victory Lane.

Well first of all Dale said himself multiple times. Dale told a group of us at Daytona in 1999 “I can see the air in my head, but only because I’ve been in the wind tunnel when smoke was released and I burned that image into my mind” btw most animations are incorrect I spent a ton of time in wind tunnel. My cars always had a “V” that shape. The fender flares created a strange flow on the back of the car the last 1’ on each side.

So basically drafting works because the racer from behind uses the racer from the front as a sheild for the wind so that the car doesn’t consume as much fuel and so that it can stay fast.

This is why I hate when people bump draft, if you "bump" the car hard enough it WILL spin out, and if you spin me out in forza I'm coming after you.
