cTrix - Vector Lyf - Vectrex Tune 2015

Track I created for Flashback Demoparty 2015. Running off a Vectrex cartridge, taking approx 18kb of ROM space. Internal sound chip is the AY-3-8910. The Vectrex only has a 3" speaker (no output) so this is recorded with a Sony ECM-678 microphone under ideal conditions. Fun times!

There are a couple of useful mods that may be useful.
– One of them is an update to the BIOS that doubles the screen's refresh rate.
– There's the Buzz-Off kit, of course.
– There's a stereo speaker output mod.
– If you install a separate power switch and a grounded power adapter, you won't have to worry about messing with the sound just by turning the system on and off.

I added an external audio jack to my Vectrex. The chip itself can have some bass when going into an amplifier. If you want I can try to make a rip of that running it to line-in on the PC?

The buzzing noise is the result of improper shielding and grounding of the audio amplifier circuitry from the other analog components, it's dependent not on the CRT itself but instead the deflection hardware

It's fun that this shiptune sounds like AYesque; I mean it's no different (aside from the buzzing recording due to the lack of sound output) from the musical tune you'd expect from an Amstrad CPC.
It's really awesome, do'nt get me wrong, but most Vectrex games have sounds and musics that  are "Vectrex".
Pretty much like how the few Bally Astrocade homebrew games doesn't sounds anything liek the Astrocade games of the era.

The first 3 notes sounded something like pokemon. Also If you opened the vectrex up you could wire up a jack to the output to record off of it

I wonder if you could compile (port) a tracker for the vectrex, like a tracker-player to see all samples while playing the song.
