I saw a Quora question where a guy wondered what'd happen if someone went to the Roman era during wartime with guns and ammo, how many Romans could he kill, and my favorite response was something along the lines of "Once the Romans realized you were just mowing them down, they'd just sit somewhere you couldn't shoot them and wait. They know whoever it is would have to sleep eventually."

The stray musket ball killing the frontline mowing fantasy reminded me of this. Strategy is key, even with good weapons.
