Ah, the rtx 3050. A soon to be outdated card. Thanks nvidia for releasing it 1 year later than the rest of the rtx 3000 series. Very fucking appreciated.

The RX 480/580, the gift that keeps on giving. I have one in my secondary rig and it still handles 1080p just fine.

AMD made a mistake creating such a beast back in the days, so much powerful that it competes with some of the latest till now. No card is made like this again
Update: My 580 died yesterday(4/3/2023). RIP legend

2 years ago i got that Rx580 8gb msi armor for 90$. and runs games very well with R5 5600X. so no complains . still going strong.

This gpu keeps up impressing me. It still runs games no problem and the fact that i bought it new at ~ 150$ it was the perfect combo. Nowadays a 3050 it s like what, 300$? No, thanks.
If it keeps giving, the rx580 will soon reach the godlike status of my old GTX750ti.

I've been happy with my Powercolor Red Devil RX 580 ever since I got it used for $120 a little while back. I use a few tricks to get better performance out of games like Cyberpunk, but it handles just about everything I throw at it quite well. Stellar old card and to do that well stacked up against a card that should beat the pants off this aging flagship really says something.

thank you for making the comparison video!

I mean it's almost 5 year old card and results are.... I'm speechless

The GPU performance is as expected... RX 580, 5 year old card and still keeping up. BUT, two strange things I see... the RTX 3050 is using 1GB more system memory, also CPU utilization seems to be constantly about 10% higher.

AMD cards always age like fine wine. Unlike Nvidia cards that lose performance with each update, AMD starts out rough but keeps fine tuning their legacy cards and as a result they hold up much longer than they have any right to. This has been seen time and time again for generations of graphics cards. Its really making me consider an AMD for my next card. I haven't ran anything but Nvidia since the Radeon 2400XT. With video cards being a massive investment now, I can't look past the longevity AMD always provides.

RX580, we so wanted it to be the AMD equivalent of the GTX1080, but it was worse than GTX1060.
Now, almost 5 years later, it beats the 1060 in every scenario. The RX580 is between a 1060 and 1070.
I own a 8GB 580 and 8GB 1080. I love the 1080 to death, as it sometimes outshines even a 2070, but I have respect for the RX580 8GB. The 4GB can suck it :)

RX 580 is great for 1080p gaming, especially the older titles. I do the modern stuff on console so the PC is basically my “throwback” gaming system. New Vegas, Skyrim, etc.. This card will run games like that on high-settings as smooth as silk.

Last year i retired my i5 3570k with an rx 580 that still worked pretty decent for me.
For reasons beyond just gaming i decided to replace the desktop with a laptop, ryzen 7 5800h and 3050 non ti (which is worse then the regular 3050 non ti).
And from my experience, from the cpu point of view it was a massiv upgrade no doubt, but from the gpu side of view it was pretty much the same, except for the fact that my 580 had 8gb vram.
Granted i am just gaming at 1080p and don´t care about higher resolutions atm so the requirements weren´t to high to begin with. Also i don´t necessarily play or even enjoy the most demanding titles to begin with.

The rx 580 now serves a new life in my mums pc, amd athlon x4 870k, which does just fine for her to play anno and my nephew to play fortnite, fifa and whatever other games he likes when he is over there.

Given that i just paid ~250 euros back in the days, sapphire rx 580 nitro+ 8g, (before the mining crap ruined the market) i can say it was probably the best price/value purchase ever.

I'm not sure about the prices now, but I got my secondhand RX580 for 70 dollars back in 2020, hell of a steal

insane for a 2017 mid range GPU intended for 1080p ultra/high gaming to perform this good so many years after release, mine still rocks solid in 2024

TOO see that RX 580 with clocks nearly double down for GPU and triple down for memory is Amazing.25-30% performance up for RTX3050 is nothing to write about it.It's sad for Nvidia and also for Amd rx 6500xt to have cut down PCI-ex.

I don't think this is a far comparison since a gtx 1660 is beating an rx590 while the rtx 3050 is basically a 1660ti

F for those who bought 1060 in place of RX 580 soon no launch game will run or will be at the limits because of VRAM resources. Well it is happening already.

Omg, this still perform well. Anyone who knows how to overclock this, its amazing option. I remembered when i had this card, i overclocked its core to 1550 mhz with vcore voltage +200 in bios with polaris bios editor. Its also one of those who overlocking crazy!
