The praise Balto receives really doesn’t diminish in any way Togo’s greatness. Both of them were great dogs and both were heroes. True greatness doesn’t depend on popularity and the opinion of people, nor on a statue in Central Park.

Balto sure was a heroic dog and he definitely plays a very important part in Alaska’s history. Kevin Bacon did a very good job playing Balto in the 1995 animated movie of the same name. It’s also worth mentioning that Steve Winwood performed the song “Reach for the Light”, a beautiful ballad that acts as said movie’s theme song.

It’s disappointing that Balto got so much fame even though he only ran 53 miles, and his fellow lead dog, fox, has probably never been heard of by most. And Togo tan 260 miles and got sick little fame 😔

Balto is one of my favorite heros but you can't blame a dog but the owners (aka the peoplewho bought Balto from Sapalla). Both Balto and Togo are heros, equally important. Their is no comparison between dog against dog on who deserves better. Even if Togo deserves most of the credit ( which I'm not against) you can't blame Balto, He's a dog people, if anything blame the people who bought him from Sapalla. I always thought they should have a statue of both dogs standing next to each other. Look at both their stories, Balto became a hero in his own way after the serum run. He went through a lot of abuse after delivering the serum and while togo lived a great life at 12 years you cant blame a dog for taking most of the credit but history and the abusive people itself.

Balto wasn’t even the only leading sled dog there was also a dog named fox and a dog named Togo who covered 4 times the ground than Balto did

Togo was the real hero!, Balto only covered 30 miles of the last leg of the journey whilst Togo done 240 miles so why is the statue and acclaim not dedicated to him?

I do appreciate the comments down here. Everyone here is praising both Balto and Togo and saying that regardless, they both deserve the glory and admiration for what they did on that 1925 cold winter.

Their both hero’s but Togo deserved more. Balto covered 55 miles and it was the easiest part of the trip. Togo covered over 260 miles and it was the most dangerous and life risking. All the dogs did amazing there wasn’t only one but they couldn’t have done it without their lead dog which was Togo. I really don’t think any of those other dogs could’ve done what Togo did and got that medicine for those children. Weather it was because they were to young, not brave enough or just not fit for the lead in general. Togo is a true hero they all are but he deserved so much more and he got that with his untold story on Disney + that I highly recommend.
