thx for the review mike. i tried that filter (or one very similar) a couple years ago. i baught two of them. ... both had such slo flow they were unusable. i have them in a rubbermaid bin in the garage somewhere. don't plan on ever using them, unless i had a super small tank in emergency style. ...

It looks very much like the Superfish model. With just a few changes. The black filter may be a "carbon-enhanced" filter. I changed that. It takes some time to learn how to quickly fix it, when you are woken up in the middle of the night with noises. The surfice scrimer works. Aint the best. And the sucktion part has to big hulls, fryes get sucked in. When cleaning the filter, check out for hidden shrimps. 6 out of 10 with my Superfish hob. The noises are often bc of snails og shrimps in the intake.

I’ve been looking at ‘Lifegard Aquatics’ Lifegard Hang On Filters HOF (because of the Skimmer style dual intake)
I think instead I’ll dump my money on the OASE CrystalSkim and hope it pulls off the top slimy film. My canister is otherwise okay but not agitating the surface.

awesome ! a very quiet HOB that doesn't filter the aquarium. wouldn't it easier just to use an old noisy HOB and not plug it in ?

ive got the same brand, but the smallest model, for my office tank. I live in china so I got it for about 2 bucks, I tossed the cartridge and put in my own filter media. However every week or two I need to clean it or the flow is reduced to a dribble

Would be cool for 20$ if you put your own media I don’t really use the media they give me anyways I just use filter floss inside all my hang on the backs. Could be quite good filled to the brim with floss !

Could the filter have been pulling more water into it from the surface skimmer instead of the lower intake tube? I wonder if it would work better without the surface skimmer and the sponge covering the intake tube?
