Max Lobovsky and Colin Raney of Boston's Formlabs show off the newly released Form 2 3D Printer. In addition to having an updated look, it also has upgraded print internals. With Makerbot having some recent company missteps, it seems the consumer 3d Printer market is wide open with Formlabs looking to capitalize.

The natural edge slab table is beautiful. Also I love the idea of a larger print capability.

I have been using this printer for a few months now to prototype parts for medical designs. First, I have no issues with prints sticking to the build plate, actually, I have a very difficult time getting them off. I am using the entire build envelope and even adjusting my designs to fit. It has worked great so far. I have had a few bad prints but 90% are great. I do have issues with warping. both from their curing system and from heated water that I use to test with (manifolds). The warping is more of a material issue but I do see some warping right from the printer (printing parts that are 4.5" x 8.25" x .5"..large flat parts). I am still watching the market for whats the next best thing comming in their price range. I'd really like to see a Form3 with a much larger build envelope. I am sure glad I'm not having issues as some of these posters, this thing is making my job allot easier and a ton cheaper.

Everyone in Cali is always yammering their head off about how technology is shrinking and chips are approaching the nano-scale and blah blah blah, but when it comes to 3D printers nobody ever considers technology scaling up physically. How many people actually consider the ramifications of a multi-material printer the size of an airport?

if you make the bottom of tray hydrofobic, can you then make it print faster?

That Tech Crunch 'reporter' was boring AF and completely unenthusiastic. I never want to see him again.

Wil other programs support Form 2 also? Like Maya 3D or inventors

Great video - please lose the background music though! It's really distracting.

I can only say I'm really very dissapointed at the reliability of this printer. Our company has been using it for 6 months (professiona)l now and only had problems with it, ranging from a not correct calibrated optical system or not recognizing the Resin Tanks. So I think this is a nice printer for hobby purposes, but absolutely not as a reliable production tool.

This printer is an absolute disaster for commercial use. We've been using it in our business for 1 year now and have trouble with it every 2 or 3 weeks: tanks not recognized, cartrdiges not recognized, non adherance to the build platform. We also had to have the optical system recalibrateDon't get me wrong: when it prints it does a fantastic job, but this machine has some serious reliability issues... We're going to look for another (proffesional) brand.
