I never noticed anything wrong with Pearl until I found out that people were mistreating because of her “big forehead”
Same with Frye, when I first saw her, I thought she just looked really cool and loved her colors. Then I was reminded that “her forehead it too big!” “She looks abnormal!”

Pearl is actually the only idol that looks like the player characters. She has a normal eyes, her hair is quite similar to the inkling girl hair.
So they're are trying to make her look like other idols.

when i first saw Frye i definitely thought she looked goofy but MAN i love her, and upon drawing her i realize just how well thought-out her design is, contrasting perfectly with shiver’s in almost every department.

Pearl is the closest we have to an idol or other important NPC looking like the player characters. Her design is so simple yet she stands out so well.

The picture of pearl at the top when you showed the "fixes" looks absolutely horrible. They just made her into an "uwu cutesy gal smol bean" like NO. NO PLEASE DEAR GOD I DO NOT WANT TO SEE THAT AGAIN.

I also wasn't a big fan of Pearl at first, but she became by far my favorite idol after some time. Shiver and Frye looking so different from the player characters also put me off them for a week or two, but now I'm good with them
