COOLSKY DC-9 FOR FSX - FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Froogle takes a first impressions look at the new DC-9 developed by Coolsky and published by Flight 1.

**NOTE** This is a first impressions video and I make a number of mistakes. For example, within flight center there is a button for pushback and turn that I missed. That's the nature of a first impressions video. Obviously the full review will be a little more thorough but time ran out in preparing this due to the issues the add-on had initially.

You are right, the logo is flipped. Never noticed that before but I don't tend to spend a lot of time hanging out of the window looking at it when I'm flying. Not entirely sure a flipped logo qualifies as "missing the forest for the trees" either in the grand scheme of things, but nice catch.

Absolutely - its in the FSActions menu on the CDU. It's way cooler though to actually talk with the ground crew and work through it with them through FS2Crew - see my NGX flights for more info

Awesome, glad you liked the vid and thanks for the sub. It truly is a beautiful aircraft and you guys did a great job. I mentioned in another comment earlier, this aircraft has me so hooked that I actually went to Kinkos last night and printed and bound the manual - I never do that. Well done.

Thanks for the kind words. Sure, just click on the FSX view menu, and then go down the list - I think you'll find it under New View - just find the GPS option, click it and go. You can access it from pretty much any aircraft.

You know technically it is an MD-80 and vice versa. Spent the weekend in an MD-80 and the captain explained that his rating shows DC9. Also the ID plate on the dash in the MD80 often also says DC9

This is the only aircraft I have that I have ever printed the manual for. Took a quick trip to Kinkos last night and had all 500 pages printed and bound into a desktop reference, so yeah I'm sure there's going to be more vids coming.

Espen gives great customer service. He responds to any bugs found and works on fixes. A few things mentioned in this firts impression aren't actually bugs anyway. More a case of not reading the manual (no criticism as Froogle does a great first impression).
Like the pushback, not a bug, you use manual FSX commands to turn or stop if I remember right. Of course the DC-9 is certified for reverse thrust pushback, so who needs a tow truck. Just DO NOT use brakes to stop the reverse. ;-)

No, not yet. I am actually still working on it. I tend to take my time with these videos and not get them out as fast possible. I'm more interested in really getting in depth with a product before I start talking about it on that level. To that end, I actually live streamed last week showing me spending some time with this aircraft ready to start recording that review. Not long now.

I need to update that since I recently switched away from both Radeons to a single Nvidia GTX 670. I use the online tweaker to configure fsx - google for tweak fsx cfg venetubo

No it does not. Cool that you know that though - was in an MD80 (which is basically a DC9) at the weekend and had those pointed out to me.

correct - steam powered/steam driven. It's a fairly common term for not computerized.
