I just did this in my fireplace for a pot my kid made in school. They wouldn't fire it in a kiln because it might explode and break other pots... too thick. So after having this thing for over 40 years, it's finally fired. I'll take it out tomorrow morning. Thanks, A-Ryan!

Again... Love it. My wife is a potter and she is loving it too. We think we have some clay here (central Montana) so we are waiting for the snow and cold to slow down. I think your coals burned up all the carbon that you are looking for in the fire kissed effect. We are impressed with your video and now both of us are going to try it too. We are retired so playing in the mud sounds like fun.

Thanks for sharing this! It really is a beautiful process. This may be a dumb question... but after the've been fired, are the pieces safe to use with food and drink if there is no glaze?

I found some white clay at the river and made a small bowl. My ceramics teacher fired it in his kiln and it worked. I have yet to try it in a fire pit.
