Thank you kindly for this video! It made it fast and easy to replace my own battery! There was one thing that was a little different that I didn't see covered here is the fact that the mooring bar that goes over the battery has a fastener that's connected to the wires from the positive lead. In the video here, I see the hole for where that thing USED to be in the car you used. For a car that hasn't had the battery removed since it rolled off the assembly back in, say, 2011... it might be worth mentioning that.

Thanks for the video just didn't show how hard it was to come out.
I just replaced my battery, definitely a pain to get out
I had to walk away a few times and come back to it finally got it out!!! When getting a new battery references showing a size 47 / H5 I was so surprised that it was well over an inch shorter so it goes in easy and if you ever have to replace it will come out easy!

Quite a bit different for the 2012 model in terms of accessing and location of things. But it's still under the passenger seat so this was helpful. Was shocked how small the battery was, much smaller than even the one in this video. Looks like something from a go-cart. Has to be specialty ordered, as no store is going to sell a car battery of this size. (For my model anyway.)

Thank you I just did it to my smart car the only mistake I did was to install first the negative then I thought 'wait a minute there must be an electric reason why was first the positive’💥🔥 🥴 so I disconnected the neutral again and did it the last as you did it and voila! Works perfectly 😉 thanks again!

On another note....I would like to punch the designer who was in charge of the positive connector in the stomach. It was incredibly stupid to put the bolt on the inside where it is super hard to get to it and turn it....huge time sucker!!!!

I just got an 09 from the auction yesterday, it was sold as a none runner with a warning sign saying, it won't turn over.
I bid on it blindly online, i figure i could fix it, paid for it and had the tow company deliver.
I thought i was going to change the starter or perhaps a sensor, maybe if i was really unlucky redo the heads or something worst.
Tow truck guy plugged his jumper battery and turned the key.
Car gave 2 cranks.
He tried again but car stopped cranking.
He looked at me and he said this car is going to run.
I feel almost shaky.
Went inside brought the old battery cables and hooked up to my other car.
Key turned, nothing
Let it sit
Key turn; a crank
Let it sit some more
Key turn 3 or 4 cranks but no fire
I almost gave up thinking it needed a fresh set of plugs maybe
Let it sit just a little longer, key turn and blast off.
Took it out for a spin, drives like a charm.
Needs a good tune up and a clean up, but over all is in mint condition, seats no tears and the only problem is a hole on driver's carpet that can be covered with mats.
Paid one thousand dollars for everything minus title that I'll be getting tomorrow
I could easily flip it for 4 right now

Look at the battery, it has the orinal better from back in 09.
This car was bought at the dealer last month and put on the auction this month, because the guy who bought it couldn't figure he's battery had died.
He saved me 3 thousand bucks.

I won't be selling my smart any time soon, you know that feeling when they say pig in shit?
