Taken from "Black Moses", 1971. 2018 reissue.
"Close to You" (Burt Bacharach & Hal David) was popularized by the Carpenters, but Isaac Hayes gave it his own spin with a flavor of soul, as usual, and he did a great job in my opinion.

Hola Rui, no conocía este cover, al principio no me di cuenta de que se trataba del mismo tema de los Carpenters, el arreglo es completamente distinto. Excelente versión en una línea similar a Barry White. .Prácticamente a partir de la mitad es una reelaboración total.
El sonido es muy agradable, bien detallado pero suave.

I had previous knowledge of all these songs, but to be honest, I had never stopped to listen to them properly with Isaac Hayes' voice. Not because I don't like them, but because there are tons to listen to.
This Jazzy-Soul full length version is great! This reissue is very nice. How comfortable it feels. By the way, in the 70's edition, the gatefold opens showing the full size of Black Moses...
Currently, and it is proven, Moses was not like Charlton Heston; I mean, he was not a Caucasian man. He was a dark-skinned man, and, of course, he did not wear those glassesm ha, ha, ha!😆

Aw man, I was hoping this wasn't the Carpenters version. There's an older song just titled "Close To You" and starts with: "Close to you, I will always stay. Close to you, though you're far away".

Não conhecia - ou nunca tinha dado a devida atenção - esta versão do Isaac Hayes, sei que ele canta algumas canções do Bacharach, a mais ouvida o "Walk On By", mas esta deixou-me de queixos caídos, porque fez uma versão algo distinta do original mas muito boa. Gostei imenso, e o som está perfeito!
Sou grande fã do Burt Bacharach, acho que ele tem um rol de canções lindíssimas e intemporais! Hoje, com 94 anos, ainda compõe canções lindíssimas, inclusive para musicais, e ainda acompanha ao piano. Experimenta ouvir os temas recentes "A Thousand Things That Were You" e "Every Other Hour".
