1959 Chevy Biscayne Bought AT AUCTION! - Will It Run Again After Sitting in a Junkyard for YEARS?

A few weeks ago I bought this rare cameo coral 1959 Chevy Biscayne at a salvage yard auction where the car had sat for many years. I was unable to turn the engine by hand at the auction, so i took a chance on it, knowing it was a parts car for myself, and if the engine didn't run it wouldn't be the end of the world. Getting it home and putting a fresh battery to it, the engine turned over strong!
Were we able to get this old Chevy running again after sitting in a field for all these years, or is that the reason it was parked so many years ago? We will find out in today's video!
Thanks for watching!

I didn't read many of the comments so someone may have already mentioned this, but the carb overflowing can be a few different things: The needle/seat are worn or stuck, the float is stuck or has a pinhole in it or the fuel pressure is too high. That carb is a Rochester BC, very good old carbs.

It started, and it runs smooth. Just like a Powerglide, those 235 sixes almost last forever. I think for a 65 year old engine and Powerglide to still function after sitting so long is impressive.

I don’t know about Iowa, but in Montana, you can get a State issued VIN for older cars with missing VINs as long as you can prove you are the legal owner.

Wonderful running 235. Is a shame you’re not going to restore that old ‘59. Love those old Chevys!

I love that ol’ Chevy 235! Especially when it’s in a ‘59. Talk about smooth and reliable… even after 30 years of sitting!

Not sure if you've had much experience with that engine, but they will crack a head at the slightest overheat. We put at least two or three in my brother's '59 Bicayne (with six-banger and Powerglide) over the years. Finally got a new

Get that belt on there and fill that cooling system, if it's not too late already.

Anytime I see a mechanic poking around with a flat head screwdriver...I know I'm in the right place! Great video. Thank you

That engine is phenomenal! I can't believe how fast it starts and it idles! What a great car! I had a positive cable get shorted over the battery once and when I finally got it disconnected it had melted a big groove in the new battery! It happens.

I know you wanted to use it as a parts car. But the frame has 2 serial numbers on the top of the frame . That could be used to get a title

It always amazes me that a car that has sat that long will fire up that easily

Had a 60 impala 2 door with the same powertrain. The styling and interior were fine but the 235 no power, no mileage, smoked and leaked. Because of this car I would never want another 235 for any reason. Drove a similar 60 impala with a stock 283 2v and a3speed manual and it was like a rocket compared to mine. Mine finally spun a couple rod bearings and was scrapped. Good video thanks!!

Runs really smooth, sounds pretty good. To bad about the Vin tag, very restorable

My uncle bought one new in 1959, I was 12. It was copper colored but it was identical including the power glide

Float valve isn't sealing or electric pump to much pressure and pushing fuel past it.

Mr. B. Here ! 🍩☕️👀😎👍 Sad that Vin tag is missing but your the right man to manage parting out ! Ryan even the the Pro’s have miss hap’s . I’ll bet the points are cheap. Am big fan of starter fluid. Wow nice sound from that 6 👀😎👍. Factory air screws no more than 4 turns out, if more than that needs a rebuilt ! Nice job ☕️👀😎👍
