How to SHOOT WITH POWER Regardless of your Technique

Often the easiest changes don't always yield the best results, but the 2 techniques I share with you in this video might just be the exception. This is how to increase shot power, with 2 simple techniques.

Most think you need big strong legs to unleash powerful strikes, when actually, it simply comes down to a couple of key points, and utilising the technique you've already established. Ready to hit top bins?

Let's do it!

Wow, I wish I had these videos to help me 15 years ago!
Never really practiced my technical skills when I was younger but you are clear and efficient explaining everything. Despite playing for a long time (not very regularly anymore unfortunately) I'm still picking up plenty of things that I'd never really thought about.

For anyone reading this - our brain is our biggest weapon! Practicing with these videos in mind will improve you much much quicker than practicing passively.

I'm the proud owner of a powerful and accurate left foot.. I love free kicks and in my years and teams I've played at.. I took most of the corners and free kicks.
This was a great video and I'm sure it will help a lot that struggle. That said.. I feel some parts were overlooked so I'll add this:
"Kick with your knee" Keep your heel back against your hammy until your knee is down to the ball.. and then drop your foot to the ball. It gives a whipping effect
Arms are not just for balance.. it's your bodys way to counter motion the energy from the twisting movement. Your arms should move at the same pace as your legs!!

Mihajlovic.. Beckham.. Carlos or whoever.. in slow mo.. take note their heel and knee before kicking.. and that extended opposing arm speed as they kick!

I just got back from the field thinking I need to improve my power and this video popped up within seconds of opening YouTube. Unbelievable. It also does what I've always hoped a YouTube tutorial would do: 1) explain what happens inside the boot, and 2) give principles that generalise to my personal shooting style and not to change it. It's quality content and I'm just stunned by the serendipity.

I've noticed each of these elements before but never put them together or systematically worked on them and remembered for other sessions (I tend to go long periods without practise). It's such a relief to get confirmation.

If i may i'll add a couple of things. There are 2 aspects of the topic shooting with power, 1: technique, which this video revolves around, and secondly: physical ability like agility and raw power.
A few tips, the shot i tried to master through my playing days was the Roberto Carlos like all-in style from distance. As a big kid i grew my legs to a huge size(86cm thighs and 51 cm. calves) by doing a lot of accelerations on my mountainbike, i rode that thing everywhere, so those wide tires and always pushing myself to the limit on the bike helped develop quick fibered musclemass. I also had a thing with stairs, i never just did one step, i always did 2 og 3 steps at the time.
I think an underated thing about shooting with power is agility and flexibility. If you practice thorough stretching after efforts, your muscles and ligaments will gain some length which in the kicking of the ball will add some free movement, which will increase power in the followthrough, also there is the lowering of risk of injuries.
When i praticed i kicked as hard as i could everytime, that i think also gained power over the years, but could i go back i'd take 5 percent of the top and focus a lot more on technique.
I got the power up to where i have never seen anyone kick as hard as I could, but my technique was flawed at best. And i could kick so hard that I was afraid of hitting the wall, that was always my main concern! I know as a 17 year old, that i kicked 127km/t that was the last measument of it i know, but at 20 -21 it was much harder, maybe 140-150 km/t. The ball whistled in the air!
Anyway I could talk for hours about that, but this is getting long, so tha'ts it for me:)

Youre the only football youtuber who actually goes through fundamentals of football, this is what the kids are taught in academies. Love it. Keep making these fundamental type videos, teaching the unspoken rules of the basic things in football !!!

Ive noticed that the more backswing I have the more powerful my shot is, probably helps with getting the correct extension in the end and also prevents any hesitation I might have before taking the shot. Ill try to incorporate your advice with consciousness and intent next time, some of these I did automatically, but would be nice to train knowing what to aim for.

have not started video, but heard you said right in the beginning, ANGLE OF THE BODY, and i just realized this now at 27 years old. in every sport, in everything, whenever it feels awkward, especially trying to switch sides, dribling with left instead of right, Throwing something with your left hand (feeling like a girl), or whatever it is, i figured out last week, that if i slow down my movements when doing it with one side, no matter if it is hockey, throwing, football or snowboard, i found that if i try with the other side, my upper body rotation goes the same way, making it feel awkward. just by fixing the way i rotate my body, suddenly learning to do anything with the "Wrong" foot/hand, got easier. been looking for content that goes into detail like that in football for a week now, and this just popped up, so good on you for teaching stuff that nobody talks about, but that is actually more important than most other tips. biomechanics is so overlooked in football, they just say lock ancle and kick at this point in the ball.. Kick how? how do i kick to get power, what does the upper body do, do you counterrotate? when? how do i maximise the snap at the ball, how much do we bend the knee? do you pull the enitire leg back, or just the lower leg, creating more angle? or should we have less angle?... soooo many questions, haha hopefully you explain in your videos, exited to watch now!
Also, heard somewhere to kick with the knee, and not being able to try it yet, just doing it in the air, it makes alot of sense. THe foot gets sooo much speed when it snaps out at the ground.

I've been trying to figure out how to kick that ball for years (I'm 67 and started playing at 22). Read articles and watched videos, and this is the first one to show me where my toe should be relative to the ball. Also the first to tell me my leg should be straight on contact (maybe that's obvious, but to hear it helped).

It would still help to know how many inches to the side of the ball my foot should be, but I think I can figure that out.

Great video, love the way you delivery the detail. I do some coaching and experience has shown me looking at the target prior to striking the ball produces the optimal results. Lots of people miss the goal or strike the ball at the goal keeper and this is due to either not looking into a corner or looking at the keeper. When we look at a small point in the distance our subconscious works out the distance and location, subsequently it programs our body with the target to strike too. Humans do it all the time - playing darts, playing snooker, throwing a cricket ball (bowling too). Hope this is helpful and please keep sharing your content. 👍
