Tool use with the Claude 3 model family

Tool use, which enables the Claude 3 model family to interact with external tools, is now available in beta to all customers in the Anthropic Messages API.

Tool use, or function calling, is a frontier AI capability that allows Claude to reason, plan and execute a set of actions by generating structured outputs via API calls.

Fascinating! As a daily user of the OpenAI API and ChatGPT, it's been over a month since I last used them, as I have switched to Anthropic. Difference in model intelligence is quiet clear. By the way, could you please share the Colab from the video? Specially the QSort part. Thx

What is really frustratng is when I try to use Claude to build out code, it only knows Claude v1 and hasn't got a clue how to access v3 requests. I've tried feeding it with the snippets in the code library but it returns endless errors and Claude chat simply doesn't have the answers. Why oh why isn't Claude chat trained on v3 models. After all, it is claiming to be using it!
