Hey Jazza, cobalt blue is one of the heavier pigments, its a heavy metal paint. The green paint, which was most certainly a mixed paint pretty sure does weight less. That's why you buy paint in volume and not weight.
You can't compare the total weight of the squeezed out paint, you should have used the same pigment and/or the total weight of the tube and put it in relation. Good vid though 👍

Only Jazza would wear a lab coat to protect his clothes and still get paint on his t-shirt.

Am I the only one, or does anyone else really wanna see jazza make a large, well-made painting with the toilet paper pulp. ☺️

I do think it would be kind of interesting how far you could take the pulpy paint? Can you blend it? How much of a 3D look can you get? Can you build outwards/upwards on it with layers?

The point of a wet pallet is not to keep paints alive for days. Its to keep small amounts alive whilst in use. If you take out a small amount of paint on a regular pallet, its often dried out before you're finished with it, preventing that is what a wet pallet is for.

For your tube squeezing experiment, you need to use the same color since there could be a variation in weight by volume. Some pigments may weigh more than others and come colors may use more pigments than others as well. Using the same color removes the possible variables and gives a more conclusive result.

You tested out a hypothesis and documented the result, thats proper science that.
Ive also never understood why wet pallettes are quite so pricey.
Good tips about the kneadable eraser, tube squeezer and keeping the wet pallette in the fridge.

Regarding the tissue pulp thing, I reckon tissues are made to absorb and stay whole and loo roll (which is made to disintegrate in water) would be easier to shred/pulpify

For paint tubes you can use binder clips to keep them rolled up and also can be useful for hanging them up to store them tip down. AND you can put big easy to read labels on the clips with a paint swatch because wow some paint tubes look too similar or have tiny fonts

As someone who is getting ready to work on building a gaming table for 40K the idea of making rocks out of hot glue instead of plastic is absolutely AWESOME! I had the same concern about the delicate nature of plaster, especially since this is a table intended for adult children that may or may not have had a wobbly pop or two!

Never even occurred to me to buy a wet palette. Always made them myself.
Cut open tubes to get the last bits of paint out. No need for a squeezing device.
Paint the sides of the canvas before you start on the front, and touch up as needed when finished.

I didn’t realize that this isn’t like a common thing, but when painting, my mom would always paint on a normal pallet and then cover it with a damp paper towel and stick it in a gallon Ziploc, and put it in the fridge. I’ve never heard of a wet pallet, but that method has always worked for me.

Ive used home made wet palettes for many years now and they work a lot better than the bought ones. You dont need to use a fridge and you can still put palette paper over the tissue, you get no absorption/runny paint and the paint will stay wet for months (i once left a smaller one on a shelf for around a year and forgot to clean it, the paint was still wet and usable)

Pro tip for the Tupperware pallets, do them upside down, the lid gets the paint and the bowl is the the lid, that way there is no lip and you can get in there with a pallet knife better.

The blodgy tissue paper paint would be really cool to paint a realistic animal photograph with, giving it a fur like texture.

That recital of the Dexter song LOL at 8:43, brought me back to my childhood days! Thanks as always for the quality content. I can confirm (since I've been doing this since I started painting) that the homemade wet palette works. You just need to use a container, place a wet paper towel and then a baking sheet (or parchment paper) on top of it and there you have it... a cheap homemade wet palette.

… I would do the edge spray BEFORE the main art. Sometimes I even extend the main art into the edges

Instead of paper towels, just use the sponge and baking paper for the wet pallet; since it's in a sealed box it should last you well (mine last me at least 2 weeks). You can buy all this at the dollar shop. Jazza you probably dampened the sponge too much, that's why the paint was runny in your first wet pallet ^^

It has already been mentioned a few times, but using a food processor or blender is absolutely the best way to pulp paper products.

I was amazed to learn that it is possible to clean kneaded erasers! That and the tube squeezer were useful and something that i can definitely use!
