Cracking an Indonesian Whip

I had this pecut custom-made and this was the first time I got to try it out. Over in Indonesia, they use these for dances and traditional performances. You can find videos of it by looking up "Reog."

I don't know how or if this will make it into my show, but I'm looking forward to cracking it somewhere where I'm not worried about disturbing the neighbors.

In Indonesian traditional art ceremony, whips are used with spells to open portals to other worlds and summon spirits and gods. contains the meaning of war or unity with another world which can mean disaster or help in the real world.

In Indonesian, pecut and whip was the same but, pecut is only on Java language. Pecut is often use for perform for 'jaran kepang' dance. On jaran kepang, pecut is As a symbol to banish bad luck and evil soul. There are other interesting things, usually often associated with mystical things such as black magic and possession. They also performed under a haunted banyan tree.

And to be honest, as an Indonesian, your swings was incredible. 'Almost same' as jaran kepang performer. Well, if you hear from the real dancer perform it, you Will not hear a gunshot, but a explosion instead.

In southern Germany similar whips (less colourful) are used in Fastnacht by people dressed as witches and demons to expell winter and evil or something like that, it looks and sounds cool, especially with the traditional wooden masks and costumes
