Absolutely goose bump inducing to hear this played properly for the first time since July 1985.It's the twelve string and bass that does it!! Just a shame the public wont get want they want with the co writer singing it!

Thank you for sharing this. I have always wanted to hear Wayne sing Marian. What a treat!

I simply find it very sad to read all these comments.  Both Andrew and Wayne had their place in history - but it is just that - ancient history - some thirty odd years later we should celebrate what they 'were' - not what they 'are'.  God bless them both and girls wander - by mistake

Wayne Hussey wrote this song while still in the Sisters, so he has every right to sing it. And Evi Vine's voice is divine!

What you have lost can never be found
Words are just dust in deserts of sound
Everything is lost and the truth is drowned
Everything is lost in the giving ground

Being that these are original members of Sisters of Mercy that originally recorded this actual song I don't see a problem!

L'original restera à jamais gravé, The mission et les suivant continuerons la mémoire....

Not that bad. Happy that Goth songs still played after so many years. 🖤

There is no debate to have! The original version of the Sisters is obviously the only one that is worth it. On the other hand, between this version and what Andrew is currently producing on stage, there is also no debate. The Sisters are dead and Andrew kills them a bit more with each of his pitiful performances on stage. Thanks to Wayne for keeping the faith.

Anyone can play whatever music they want live, no need to acquire any rights as far as I know.
In this case, those guys even wrote the music so there is not even a moral problem with that.
This version is not bad actually... A great song it is indeed.

It's hard to hear this song without Eldritch's voice 🖤

This isn't a "cover" - Wayne Hussey is credited along Andrew Eldritch on the original album. I guess he wrote the music and received the rights to lyrics after his "divorce" with The Sisters of Mercy.

BTW original music for Marian was the one later used for Black Planet.

A decent version but I can't help wanting to hear Andrew Eldrich's deep, deep vocals

Great tune. Missed the German verse, loved that in the original.

I really do need to see these guys again. Relive my youth.

Great to see they still have a following in 2018, and are still performing 👍

I actually really like this version, but then I like both Evie and Wayne's voices. I also like The Sisters version too. To me, both sets of vocals add something to the track that the others don't. And I'm not even sitting on the fence or playing Devil's advocate because I like both The Mission and The Sisters Of Mercy, just like I like Duran Duran and Cinderella.

I think what I'm trying to say is that everyone has their own opinion. There's no point in calling someone else a dick-head or bell end because they don't agree with someone else's opinion - it's part of what makes us human, our differences and yes, our similarities. Some people might agree with my view, some might not, but it's all a part of what makes us who we are and what we are. Folk'll have to just agree to disagree. :)
