Fieldsports Britain – Paul's Arctic ptarmigan hunt

We have wild sport for you this week. Paul is on the high ground of Swedish Lapland, walking up ptarmigan over setters. It is some of the most magnificent country he has had the pleasure to shoot. Meanwhile, stalking guide John Dodd calls in sika stags for his guest He Li in the spruce woods of the Scottish Highlands, and shows how you need both a good dog and good thermal for this thickly-wooded stalk. We have former League Against Cruel Sports boss Jim Barrington talking about foxes, David leads on the Beaufort Hunt and Chris Packham’s burning vehicle on the News Stump and Charlie showcases the best hunting and shooting videos on YouTube in Hunting YouTube. Keep it #FieldsportsBritain.

A class film? Any more like this? Paul's excitement was palpable. Forget driven shooting, this is the real stuff.

Absolutely brilliant episode 👏..The Swedish Lapland was amazing... Great to see the dogs action in that and the Sika film ... Well done Charlie, David, Paul and team 👏
Moving onto Mr Packham ... Why is nobody questioning his side of the story ? And shame on the Hunt people for 1) anaesthetising ( had to copy and paste that word ) hounds outside where it has allowed the public to see and 2) For not standing up for what is legal and the most humane of dealing with elderly or injured hounds .. I personally was saddened to see it but understand why, so well done Charlie for stepping up to a very very harsh and tough role.on ITV to defend.and explain.... 👏👏

Great Might have to up my membership 😀

Surprised Paul wants to up the shot size. We hunt ptarmigan with 7.5, 1 1/8 oz here in western Canada… just like pheasants, grouse and Hungarian partridge

Head-high diverse, scrub woodland on tundra/moor mosaic producing exciting hunting habitat. And holding harvestable numbers of a bird we are watching decline in Scotland.
Such habitat is not tolerated in our current hunting model in favour of DG, which I think is a loss for us.
